Hive Philippines | 7th Official Meetup in Davao City

Hive Philippines - 7th Meetup

Yesterday was the 7th official meetup for the #HivePhilippines group and it happened in Davao City, Philippines.

Some of the members who joined included @nathansenn, @chrisrice, @emafe, @riyuwe, @usveteran & Gerhard's wife, @viverlie. The topics were a little mixed up though and @chrisrice described the discussions grouped together as resembling spaghetti since a lot of the topics raised were unrelated, or at least seemed unrelated and messy.

PJ Entrepreneur (yes, his last name is 'Entrepreneur') arrived first, and he reserved the group some seats at Zark's Burger, and @nathansenn + Gerhard ( @usveteran ) arrived some time after that.

When @chrisrice got there he said hi, met PJ Entrepreneur for the first time and settled in to eat a burger and discuss anything and everything with the group.

One of the reasons why there was such a mix up of ideas was related to the diverse set of skills and expertise as a group. @nathansenn is a skilled blockchain developer, PJ Entrepreneur is an experienced businessman and @chrisrice is the community builder and organizer of the meetups. @usveteran was also added into the mix as a former active-duty Marine in the U.S. Marine Corps and @riyuwe is another software developer working with @nathansenn.

The topics even strayed off-topic to cover @jancharlest's (not present) idea of creating a Hive-based version of Roblox on HiveBlox.com. That is when PJ plainly said, they need to focus on projects, ventures and activities that generate income and profits immediately (or as close to immediate as possible) before venturing onto other ideas.

Chris then asked Nathan for a list of his top priorities starting from the most important and urgent down to the rest. Here is what @nathansenn said:

  1. To continue his work as a blockchain developer for hire (he has an employer already)
  2. To continue his work with SuperiorCoin as the lead developer.
  3. To build a business selling clothes, jeans and accessories for wholesale prices in the Philippines through PJ's business connections.
  4. To build a Hive-based dApp for the Philippines using the domain name HivePhilippines.com

That definitely brought some clarity to the discussions since @nathansenn and @riyuwe are the two developers in the group who actually code and BUIDL things. The idea is that @nathansenn will be able to fund #2 and #4 through #1 and #3, and he is actually interested in hiring another developer in Davao City to help him do it.

That sums up the most important aspects of their discussions and the group will be meeting again next week in SM City Davao (Ecoland). Btw.. @viverlie sells health insurance for expats and can be contacted on Facebook, if you have any experience with that comment in the comment section or reach out to any of us.
